Welcome to my corner of the internet
Devotions (est. 2021) is a newsletter on reflection, appreciation, and growth. And silly things too, sometimes. The title is a homage to a volume of poems by my favorite poet, Mary Oliver, but it has its own meaning. This is a curated space for my devotions — to me, to the things I love, to moments that turn existence into living.
My name is Tara (she/her). I like reading literary fiction and poetry (all poetry, but especially the “It’s good to be alive” kind). I’m from Virginia, U.S.A., but currently physically reside in London, England. Spiritually, I reside in many places, including (but not limited to) a park bench, the back corner of a bookstore, and underneath a tree that sparkles in the sun. I work in marketing, and I’m trying to finish a novel.
From Ada Limón’s “The Last Thing”:
... I know you don’t always understand, but let me point to the first wet drops landing on the stones, the noise like fingers drumming the skin. I can’t help it. I will never get over making everything such a big deal.
Thank you for being here.
Love, Tara
